Our Story
This festival is a celebration of the beautiful mosaic that is our community. Every year, we bring together thousands of people from all backgrounds to share in the joy of music, food, art, and culture.
We believe that connection is the most powerful force in the world — and that a shared meal, a song, or a dance can bridge any divide.
It started with a backyard barbecue in 2014. What began as a small neighbourhood get-together among friends from different cultural backgrounds quickly grew into something bigger when someone brought a drum, someone else brought their grandmother's recipes, and a local DJ set up his decks.
Word spread. The next year, over 200 people showed up. By 2017, we needed a park permit. By 2020, we had a full production team and 8,000 attendees. It was no longer a party — it was a movement.
Our mission is simple: to create a space where every person — regardless of where they come from, what they believe, or who they love — feels welcome, seen, and celebrated.
We work year-round with community organisations, artists, educators, and local businesses to ensure that the festival reflects the full richness of the communities we serve.
Over the past decade, the festival has:
The festival is run by a passionate team of over 40 staff and 200 volunteers, led by our founding directors. Together, they bring decades of experience in event production, community development, and the arts.
We're proud to be one of the few major festivals with a leadership team that mirrors the diversity of our audience — because we believe authentic representation starts at the top.
